THE HIDDEN CHICKEN COOPS OF WESTON TOUR benefited the restoration of Lachat Farm. The self-guided tour was held Sunday, June 23, 2013. The tour featurde coops set in beautiful surrounding gardens often with inspirational vegetable gardens lovingly tended by our Weston backyard farmers. There were different styles of coops on display from large to small, homemade to purchased. Included on the tour was the Fagan family’s Roots Farm (check out “Roots Farm” on Facebook) with 50 newly hatched baby chicks on hand! Also tour goers enjoyed a glimpse into Weston’s past with a visit to Manatuck Farm, 96 Norfield Road. This circa 1795 homestead featured, besides its chickens, an old barn, potting shed, and lovely gardens. The Wells Hill Farm was last and displayed a more newly created farm, with out large vegetable garden and coop.
